Hey all.
For those of us without fancy subscriptions (cuz it might be different if you have a subscription), have you noticed that, when you log in, the
Browse page now opens always to
Most Popular Deviations of all Time rather than
Most Popular Deviations submitted in the last 2 seconds or something like that? What is this?
I was kinda ticked when I noticed this, and I'm all for dA doing whatever reforms they want, but doesn't this kind of defeat the purpose of what dA is about? The point, I thought, was to give amateur artists (and experts who think they're amateur) of all mediums an environment in which they can post their works and get outside critiques in order to improve as an artist. I even remember reading somewhere on dA at one point that they were thinking of trying to make dA feel smaller, because the mass of members makes it feel too huge.
So doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose if whenever the website opens, it shows those of us with the ability to comment only the best of the best? Yes, sure, the best pieces deserve credit too. But having the page open to
Most Popular Deviations in the last 8 hours or something like that gave those of us who aren't the best of the best a chance to be seen and critiqued.
Lately it just sort of seems like little things like this are making dA go backwards from what I thought its vision was...
Correct me if I'm wrong though... I do have a flu and could be completely delierious. XD
On the note of what's new, I have a million hours of homework each night, so writing and other various art forms probably won't get posted too frequently. The next big projects in Media Arts that might get posted are screenshots of the website I have to make, and the flash animation for it.
Also, our kitchen is getting re-done, so there's creepy peoples wandering in and out of our house at all times...
It's scaring me to stay home sick, but my mum made me today...

Of course, I was supposed to write 3 tests today too.
So life generally sucks on this end.

Thought I'd take advantage of skins and let you all know how life is going. haha. XD

I have photography period 2 next semester.
And the quality of the camera doesn't matter. It's what you can do with it.
Like if you have a crappy dollar store paintbrush, you can still create a work of beautiful art.

: ( is your camrea expensive?? <//3
I will probably end up bringing it into class sometime... Are you in the photography class next semester?
And some higher end point-and-shoots do what you're looking for... call you need is a camera with a macro button. (it looks like a tulip) Most point-and-shoot cameras have that now...
I bought my camera for $500+ dollars a few years back, so you could probably buy it on e-bay now for a $100 or so. XD There's been about 5 or 6 new editions of my camera since I bought it.
I want a new camera... I need more features... I steal my sister's camera sometimes. She never uses it and it's twice as good as mine.
